Dick Close is a graphic designer and illustrator who enjoys the spontaneity and surprises of watercolor painting. Everyday objects like fruit, candy, and vegetables enjoy an "elevated" status in Dick’s work through the use of bold color, heroic composition and dramatic shadows. There is irony and humor in the earnest renderings of sour balls, peppermints and Jujy Fruits™. His watercolors have been exhibited at the Wells Street Art Festival in Old Town, Chicago; State Street Area Fair in Ann Arbor, the Carmel International Art Festival in Carmel, Indiana and are currently part of a collection at the new Mary Jo Cropper Center for Breast Care at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati. Dick has a B.F.A from Miami University and is currently design director at Ionic Communications Group, a brand design firm in Cincinnati. His design work has received awards from the American Advertising Federation, Graphic Design USA magazine and the Art Directors Club of Cincinnati. 2010 Exhibition Schedule Our spring/summer art fair calendar is beginning to take shape.
